The visit gathered the OMEGA-X partners which are directly involved in the Flexibility Use Case that will be piloted in the city (WP6) – EDP, ISMAI and Maia from Portugal, Odit-e from France and Tecnalia from Spain – and its main programme comprised site visits and meetings.

The first day kicked-off with site visits to several buildings and infrastructures that may be used to demonstrate flexible energy production and consumption in the city of Maia, such as, a social housing complex that may incorporate photovoltaic production for own consumption, an electrical substation that supplies electrical energy to the city of Maia, a HVAC installation and its energy monitoring system, a garden’s irrigation management system, photovoltaic production panels, electric vehicle charging posts and environmental sensors. The pilot sites in the Municipality of Maia involve the sharing of data between different stakeholders and address real and concrete needs in the energy sector.

These site visits were co-organized with two other EU-funded projects in which the Municipality of Maia is also a project partner (SPARCS – Sustainable Energy Positive & Zero Carbon Communities and EHHUR – Eyes, Hearts, Hands Urban Revolution) which, together with the OMEGA-X project, share common ideas and work on the topics of the energy transition, digital transition and carbon neutrality across the city of Maia.

The second day at the University of Maia, was dedicated to discussing technical and operational issues related with the Flexibility Use Case pilot, in particular, the ones regarding Maia’s data and infrastructure, third-party’s data, and the flexibility business use cases, service use cases and data analytic services that will be tested and demonstrated in Maia’s pilot.
