OMEGA-X: one year after the launch

OMEGA-X partners gathered together last June 7th and 8th in Athens, kindly hosted by Intracom Telecom colleagues. As usual, the bi-annual face-to-face meeting was used by the consortium to organize lively sessions so as to gather feedback and brainstorm together about the already achieved milestones plus the ones in the horizon.

This was the first General Assembly after delivering the first year milestone for the project, which closes the design cycle. Therefore, it was time for the consortium to make sure everybody was on the same page for the first draft definition of the Architecture and Use cases. This way, the most important sessions on the meeting spinned around moving past the inflection point between design and development. The main topics covered were hands-on sessions to exemplify architecture instantiation in use cases, development plans for the different horizontal data space components, alignment on the semantic interoperability and second iteration of use case definition.

Additionally, OMEGA-X is also doubling the efforts on the alignment and interoperability tasks in the project, transposing into new coming actions both with the sister projects (int:net, ENERSHARE, Data Cellar, Synergies and EDDIE) and the Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA) members (including but not limited to Gaia-X, International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) and the Big Data Value Association (BDVA)). This will materialize in the form of joint workshops, dissemination events and the release of articles and position papers. This is very relevant to achieve the ultimate goal of having a data space which is scalable, replicable and interoperable.
